Description

Legacy Properties Sotheby's International Realty is proud to present to you, 101 Lower Flying Point
Road in Freeport.  Offered weekly for Summer 2020.

Spectacular grounds with gardens, woods, trails, pond, and ocean surround this mid-coast Maine
retreat on the northern edge of Casco Bay, 20 minutes from Portland. Ocean views, breezes, and
sunlight prevail in the elegant and spacious home.

The refreshingly clean, innovative architecture built in 2014 has light gray cedar shakes and a standing
seam metal roof. Its quiet modernism has a farmhouse aesthetic that sensitively integrates the coastal
setting into the design and uncluttered décor. Oversized windows and doors line a wall in every room.
Wi-Fi and central air-conditioning are throughout the house. Seven bedrooms and 12 beds are
comfortable for 6 to 18 guests and sleep up to 22. Six bedrooms have private access onto an outdoor
deck that wraps two sides of the house. The seventh bedroom is a bunkroom on the lower level with
four queen size bunk beds and a regular twin bed. A playroom adjacent to the bunkroom is stocked
with games, table, chairs, built-in couches, and a 55” TV. Three of the 5 bathrooms are private. The
master bath features sauna and stream rooms and Jacuzzi bathtub that can all be accessed from the
hallway.

The expansive ocean front lawn features outdoor seating, two hammocks, a sand box, and two swings.
Stairs lead down to a small, tidal pebble beach where four kayaks, seven beach chairs, and good
swimming in the hours nearest high tide await. Prolific perennial, vegetable, and berry-picking gardens
wrap two sides of the home. A small, aerated freshwater pond provides additional swimming and
nature exploration that delights children of all ages. Wooded trails circumscribe the property and
weave through the gardens, offering more exploration and seating for quiet reflection. An outdoor lawn
games area overlooks the gardens and offers bocce, croquet, horseshoes.

The grand room embraces a sweeping view of Brickyard Cove. There are three contemporary couches
surrounding a fireplace and TV, dining for 8 to 22 on one or two tables, a remarkably well-equipped
kitchen, and additional counter seating. One door steps out onto a spacious deck featuring a large
outdoor grill, tables, and chairs for up to 22 guests. A private chef can stock your fridge and pantry
prior to arrival, host cooking classes, a dinner party, or make meals for the week if you like. Daily
cleaning available with sufficient advance notice.

Half a mile down the road, the L.L. Bean Paddle Center has kayak and paddleboard tours to small
islands near the cove. One mile away, Wolfe’s Neck Farm offers children’s programs and daycare.
Two miles away, Wolfe’s Neck State Park’s classic shoreline trails on 244 acres traverse the entire
narrow peninsula. Downtown Freeport’s top-grade shopping and restaurants are 4 miles away. The
gourmet Bow Street Market is a must visit, six-minute drive for all your cooking requirements, from
basics to deli best, even pre-cooked lobster dinner, ready for pick-up or delivery. Cruises, motoring
and sailboat rentals are available in South Freeport and Portland.

This property is an ideal retreat for families, professional, and corporate bookings any time of the year.

Our Gutsy Great Novelist retreat was the best! The people, the schedule, the house (with my own special room), and the food were all tops. I'm so lucky to have been a part of it.

It was quiet, peaceful and beautiful. The ideal location for the writer that needs to find inspiration or just time to themselves. I'll definitely return. Maine has good food, kind locals and spacious rentals.

I can't say enough good things about working with Scott Dobos and the property owners of 101 Lower Flying Point Road! I'm already booking dates in 2020 and can't wait to return to the house, which is perfect for a group or family; ample private space and glorious common spaces make for a comfortable place to either retreat and relax or mill around and connect. The house is lovely, modern, and uncluttered, with a Zen-like feel that relieves stress the minute you walk through the door. The kitchen is fully-equipped, with everything exactly where you want it to be, and you'd have to work darned hard to run out of dishes or silverware! The grounds are just as lovely, with a path running through the beautiful garden and around the small pond, and stairs down to the private beach on Brickyard Cove, where the sun rises each morning. A peaceful, rural neighborhood, yet close to Freeport, so you can get away from it all while still being able to zip out to Bow Street Market or LL Bean or somewhere to enjoy dinner. The owners really went the extra mile to make me and my group feel welcome, and to ensure that all we needed was available. We lacked for nothing! If you're looking for a luxurious retreat on the coast of Maine, look no further. I already think of it as my home away from home.

What a fabulous home! We treated our extended family of fifteen people (parents, four adult children and their spouses, five grandchildren aged 14 - 23) to a week here in early July, and unreservedly recommend it for a gathering such as ours. We expected it to be perfect based on the listing, but it exceeded our expectations. The house itself was perfect for our large group, accommodating five couples in private rooms and the grands in the bunkroom, which they loved! The lovely, open and bright main room offered us a space large enough to spread out, dine happily at two large tables, and spend evenings together catching up. The sauna was a real bonus for the ones who rarely have time for vacation and could de-stress. Simply and elegantly furnished, great care has been taken to ensure comfort and a feeling of home. The grounds in particular are gorgeous and lush, with perennials and herbs and a pond around the very large yard. We all had garden envy! We were thrilled that those who wanted quiet time had a place at any time of day, in the Adirondack chairs in the back garden, the chairs overlooking the cove in the morning, the large decks, and outdoor dining. Early evening had us playing combat croquet on the large lawn or throwing horseshoes in the back, all provided by the thoughtful owners. They provide all the amenities for group activities, even games and puzzles thats kept us happy for our two rainy nights. Everyone enjoyed kayaking and swimming in mid- afternoon at high tide. We were especially grateful for the array of herbs and spices (some fresh!) as well as basic pantry items. The kitchen is very well outfitted for cooking and serving for a large group, with all the cutlery, dishware and cookware required. Finally, thank you to the owners who shared their beautiful home with us and kudos to the Legacy team and Scott, who answered every question and provided useful information along the way. Our family could not be happier and will remember this week as one of our best gatherings ever,
